所謂求職信 Cover letter 是附着在簡歷 resume 之前,用於陳述個人求職意向、優勢和目的的信件。求職信是容易被國內學生忽略的簡歷中的重要一項,其實它對於詳述簡歷中的重點,解釋和補充求職目的有絕佳作用。而且,一份漂亮的簡歷會透露出你不一般的英文運用能力。切記,求職信和簡歷一定要簡明扼要,突出重點,最好各一頁紙。 若你以為憑一份簡歷就可以高枕無憂,笑傲職場,絕對痴心妄想。在你馳騁職場之前,改簡歷的經歷足夠讓你回味終身。

首先是國外的英文簡歷一般都儘量不寫性別、年齡和種族等涉嫌個人隱私的信息,因為從法律傭工角度,這些信息是涉嫌用工歧視的,招聘單位一旦被訴在招聘中涉及性別歧視、年齡歧視或種族歧視等有違法律條款的行為,是要付出鉅額賠償的,因為外國人認為一個應聘人是否符合某個招聘崗位的要求,是取決於應聘人的職業背景和職業技能水準,而不是上述信息。但是對在國內的外企,你還是把上述信息、包括你的户口所在地,都老老實實地加在英文簡歷上吧。咱們不認為這是歧視。
本身是主管, 簡歷 少説也看了幾萬封了,發現有一些通病是很多人會忽略的,而那些招聘網站或者 簡歷 中心也沒有很專業的教你怎麼寫一封好的英文 簡歷 。
本人比較偏好word版的簡歷,因為目前收到最多的還是模板簡歷,這樣看起來雖然清楚,但是在每天過濾不下100封簡歷的時候,附件中的簡歷還是比較令人期待的。
當然在國內中文簡歷比較重要,但是現在的趨勢就是雙語,有時候中文寫的洋洋灑灑,英文確令人哭笑不得。通常 面試 外企,多少都會有老外 面試 ,一份得體的英文簡歷還是很重要的。
Word的好處是有簡歷模式,而且也有簡歷的範本,適合新鮮人使用。
不鼓勵用excel和pdf做簡歷。
英文簡歷用詞
- 結了婚是Married, 未婚就是Unmarried? 偶爾看到有人寫上Single會倍感安慰
- 個性有闖勁,最好還是不要用aggressive,中文感覺還可以但其實英文裏這個詞是非常負面的,有暴躁的意思,不是優點。用energetic或者spirited比較好
- 英文和中文一樣,標點符號後要空一格,不要所有句子擠在一起
- 很多人喜歡在寫職責範圍的時候寫上Be responsible for , 文法上來説是不需要的。這些事情是你已經做過的,直接説 Responsible for all outgoing couriers 就可以了
- 英文有很多縮寫,但是在像簡歷這種正式場合還是少用為妙,比如Dont可以換成do not,千萬不要用那些wanna, gonna來代替want to, going to
用招聘網站的模板可以比較輕鬆,不過切忌檢查錯別字,因為模板上的是沒有拼寫檢查的
英文簡歷格式和頁面
- 寫完後一定要去頁面設置去除多餘的空白頁面,或者是orphan和widow現象,也就是單句的句子在頁面的最上面,最好是合併到前一頁
- 記得調整字體和大小,有些人的簡歷除了不同顏色以外還用不同字體,就像是在不同網站上粘貼過來的,非常不專業。
- 簡歷最好不要超過3頁,言語要精簡,最忌諱像論文一樣,但是沒有重點
- Word本身帶有拼寫檢查,你這裏滿頁都是紅線,我這裏看到的也都是紅線

6、工作經歷太亂(換行業太頻繁);
7、非職業化,不整潔(使用鮮豔的彩色紙/茶杯印);
8、太多不相關經歷(只有你的家人才會關心你大學以前的事情);
9、只有 簡歷 ,沒有COVERLETTER。
10、沒有適當的目標(着急找工作並不表示應該廣種薄收);

那麼英文簡歷到底該怎麼寫呢?其實不難,你只要知道一些常用的英語還有跟自己專業相關的一些英語,再套用一個好的簡歷模式,就足夠了。下面我們就來介紹一種比較適合大眾,也是國外最普遍,最流行的一種簡歷模式:
一、首先,自己的姓名,地址,聯繫方式,比如電話或者電子郵箱等等。一般採用居中的方式,其他的則居左就可以了。如下:

二、接着,要寫objective(求職意向)。這一欄是最重要的一項了。很多公司主要看這一項的內容是否跟他們 所要求的一致或者接近。比如:

上面這個例子是老外的簡歷中的原句,當然對中國人來説比較複雜,如果對英語要求不高的話,其實也不需寫這麼多。一般來説可以直接翻譯中文簡歷中的句子,但是也有很多比較好、大家普遍接受的表達方法,由於各行各業不同,應聘職位也不同,要根據情況而用不同表達。但是如果你想要應聘外企或者所應聘的公司對英語要求比較高的話就可以把使用的句子修飾一下,當然要在自己的能力範圍內哦。
三、下面要寫summary了,也就是(個人簡介)。這可是展現自己能力的一個好機會,既要讚美自己,又不能使對方覺得自己在自誇。
四、experience 工作經驗。這一點,別人可幫不了你,得自己寫。不過以什麼樣的形式寫,我可以給大家一個建議,比如:

上面這個例子中體現的方式是外國人普遍採用的方式。因為外國人從很小的時候就開始獨立,那麼他們可能從事過很多工作,這種方式即使是羅列很多條也比較清晰,而且還把時間和當時的職位用一種比較明顯的方式標註,也能突出重點。職位下面的那句話就是對你所擔任的那個職位簡單描述了。
另外要注意的是,如果工作經驗很多,也沒有必要完全列舉出來,可以挑幾項自己感覺最得意的或者對自己提升最大的來寫。
五、再接着要寫education(教育背景)。一般從大學開始寫起,時間,學校,專業,所獲得的學位,還有awards也就是所獲的獎項,尤其是特殊獎項等。(注意:如果教育經歷不多的話一般教育和獎項寫在一起,但是如果教育背景或者獎項很突出的話,則可以另列一欄。)
以上這些是必寫的內容。還有一些可以有選擇性的寫,比如:associations(參加的社團組織),現在的公司對計算機或者外語能力都有一定的要求,所以還可以寫自己的computer background(計算機能力)和language skills,最後還可以寫一欄personal profile(個人評價),比如:
